The Pebble Hills Spartans remained undefeated as they beat the Eastwood Troopers 40-22 Friday afternoon at the Socorro Athletic Complex.
Eastwood started strong on offense as they scored on their first drive to take a 7-0 lead after QB Evan Minjarez scored on a 3 yard TD run.

Pebble Hills answered right back and tied the game as Gael Ochoa scored on a 1 yd TD run.
On the next drive, the Troopers drove the length of the field and it looked like they were gonna score again but Spartans DB Ricky Gallegos intercepted a Evan Minjarez pass in the end zone and changed the momentum of the game.
After the interception, Pebble Hills scored another 14 points in the second quarter and had a 21-7 lead at halftime.
The third quarter saw no points scored but the Spartan offense did it’s job as it ate up 75 percent of the clock in the quarter.
Pebble Hills would score another touchdown in the fourth when Jacob Ledesma had a 1 yard TD run but the extra point attempt was fumbled and Curtis Murillo would recover and run it all the way back to give the Troopers 2 points.
Eastwood would then score a touchdown on the next drive but Pebble Hills would match them as they would score a touchdown as well.
Both teams would score again but with the Spartans having the substantial lead, they would end up winning the game 40-22.
With the win Pebble Hills is now 3-0 and 1-0 in district 1-6A, they will play El Dorado next week. With the loss, Eastwood is 1-2 and 0-1 in district play, they will have a bye week and will face El Dorado in two weeks.
