On Tuesday night the 2023 High School Volleyball season got underway as the El Paso High Tigers hosted the Coronado Thunderbirds.
High School Volleyball returns tonight as the El Paso Tigers will host the Coronado Thunderbirds to start the season at 6:30 pm.
Canutillo are crowned district champions after a 49 – 0 win over El Paso High. The Eagles have now won 6 consecutive games, three of which the defense has not allowed a single point.
Freshman quarterback Daveon Singleton scored five touchdowns and led the Chapin Huskies to a 42-6 victory over the El Paso Tigers before a spirited Senior Night crowd at R. R. Jones Stadium. The Huskies never trailed in the contest and simply dominated the Tigers in all three phases of the game.
For the first time in recent memory, the Austin Panthers and El Paso Tigers are not in the same district. However, both teams anticipated the storied Battle of the Claw game, despite no district or playoff implications.
Going into the Friday night’s game, El Paso High was trying to get back to a winning season while Andress had only lost one game in the district this season. With two games left to play, every win is important. This game would make one team’s season and on the other hand break one.
Stakes were high at R.E. McKee Stadium in Central El Paso on the campus of Austin High with the much-anticipated Battle of the Claw matchup between the El Paso High Tigers and Austin Panthers.
