Hobbs, New Mexico, October 28, 2025 – The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams competed at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region V Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Harry McAdams Park in Hobbs, New Mexico.
EPCC women finished second overall with 56 points, trailing first place Odessa College by 24 points in the women’s 5K race. Leading EPCC was Nhamoinesu ‘Toddy’ Mabvuka in fourth place overall with a time of 18:00. EPCC’s Antonia Ronoh finished 8th with a time of 18:22, followed by Faith Rotich in 11th at 18:42.
The Tejanas’ team has qualified and will advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Cross Country and Half Marathon National Championships to be held in Fort Dodge, Iowa, November 8-11, 2025.
On the men’s side, the Tejanos finished seventh as a team in the 8K race with 149 points. New Mexico JC won with 32 points, followed by Odessa College with 85 points. EPCC’s Julian Guerra finished 22nd with a time of 25:40, followed by Bryan Hernandez in 23rd at 25:46. EPCC’s Aydan Lugo finished in the top 30, 27th place, with a time of 25:50.
The Tejanos men’s team was invited to the National Championships in both Cross Country and Half Marathon, to be competed in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
The men’s and women’s races also featured New Mexico Junior College, Odessa College, New Mexico Military Institute, North Central Texas College, Eastern New Mexico University in Ruidoso, South Plains College, Western Texas College, Ranger Community College, Cisco College, Hill College, and Amarillo College.
Last season, the EPCC men’s team won the Region V Cross Country Championship, while the Tejanas finished second, both advancing to the NJCAA National Championships in Richmond, Virginia, where the men finished 5th, and the women finished 7th. At the NJCAA Half Marathon in Virginia just three days later, the women finished with a bronze medal while the men finished 5th.
