UTEP Mens Basketball Dominates NMSU 74-49

The UTEP Miners Mens Basketball team dominated the New Mexico State Aggies 74-49 Saturday night in front of 10 thousand fans at the Don Haskins Center.

The Miners started the game on a 12-0 run and they never looked back. Tae Hardy sparked the Miners as he had a career high 6 three pointers with most of them coming in the first half. NMSU was kept in the game in the first half by Jaden Harris’ 18 points.

With a 35-27 lead at halftime, the Miners continued to put the defensive pressure on the Aggies in the second half. The UTEP defense forced 20 turnovers and got 14 steals. The Aggies who average 70 points a game were held to 49 points.

The Miners would also go on a couple of second half scoring runs sparked by the C-USA Freshman of the Week David Terrell Jr’s 12 points which all came in the second half.

Tae Hardy lead the Miners in scoring with 21 points, Terrell had 12, Otis Frazier III had 9 points and Zid Powell scored 8 points.

The Miners will try to win their first C-USA road game as they travel to take on Western Kentucky on Thursday night.
