The UTEP Miners formally introduced Scotty Walden as the schools 27th head football coach at a press conference at the Larry Durham Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Walden was chosen after a nationwide search was made to find the next Miners coach. UTEP President Heather Wilson and Athletic Director Jim Senter talked about they were impressed by Walden energy and passion to make UTEP football a success.
After he was introduced by “Voice of the Miners” Jon Teicher, Coach Walden expressed how happy and excited he is to be back in Texas and to be able to coach at UTEP. He says that he will run a quick tempo offense and that the ball will be snapped every twelve seconds.
Walden added that he and his coaching staff will help the players bring excitement to the Sun Bowl on Saturdays. He also stated that he is a big believer in recruiting high school players and also recruiting local players.
