Two UTEP Women’s Golfers Named to WGCA All-American Scholar Team

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – UTEP women’s golfers Sophie Delfosse and Marta Romeu Chen were each named to the 2022-23 WGCA All-American Scholar Team on Thursday.

To be selected, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, been on the roster for the entirety of the season and have participated in 50 percent of the regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year for their team.

Delfosse recently graduated from UTEP with a degree in media advertising. She participated in all 10 tournaments this season and led the Miners as the top finisher three times with a pair of top-10 results. Her 75.1 career scoring average is the third-best total in program history. Over the course of her collegiate career, she was named to the CUSA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll four times and earned a CUSA Commissioner’s Academic Medal in 2022.

Romeu Chen concluded her sophomore season with the Miners this spring by taking part in all 10 tournaments. She dropped her stroke average to 75.8 this season, lowering her average by nearly two full strokes over the year prior. She is a two-time CUSA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll recipient and earned a CUSA Commissioner’s Academic Medal in 2022. She is studying industrial and systems engineering.
