Keitha Adams Introduced as New UTEP Women’s Basketball Coach

On Wednesday afternoon, UTEP Athletic Director Jim Senter officially introduced Keitha Adams as the new Miners Women’s Basketball coach at the Gordon Family Courtside Club.

The returning Adams, coached at UTEP for sixteen years before she left to coach at Wichita State for six years. She is the winningest coach in Miner history and will take over for Kevin Baker who resigned last week. Adams inherits a UTEP team that won 20 games and played in the WNIT.

In her Press Conference, Coach Adams talked about how it was great to come back to UTEP, why she wanted to come back to coach for the Miners, how fast the process went and her expectations of the team.

Adams is closing in on 500 career coaching victories.  In 27 seasons as a head coach, including five at Independence Community College, she has compiled a record of 491-339.

Her record as UTEP’s head coach is 284-209, including a 142-28 mark in conference play.  After building the program from the ground up, Adams guided the Miners to 229 victories over her last 11 seasons as head coach, an average of 20.8 per season.
