Miners Beat FAU 63-55 on Senior Day

The UTEP Miners Women’s Basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a 63-55 win over Florida Atlantic Saturday afternoon at the Don Haskins Center.

Four UTEP players were acknowledged before the game on Senior Day, they were Mari Petree, Erin Wilson, Sabine Lipe and Avery Crouse.

Once the game started the team used the pregame emotions to their advantage as they stared the game with two straight three pointers by Avery Crouse and they would never look back as they would lead the entire game.

The Miners fast start gave them a 10 point lead after the first half and as expected, FAU lead by Aniya Hubbard’s 22 points made a run in the start of the third quarter but UTEP was able to withstand the Owls run as they made a run of their own to have a 54-42 lead at the end of the quarter and in the fourth, the Miners were able to put them away and get a 63-55 victory.

The Miners were lead by Avery Crouse and N’Yah Boyd as they both had 15 points in the game. Adel Tac scored 14 and Jazion Jackson added 9 points.

With the win UTEP is now 19-8 overall and 12-6 in C-USA and are also tied for second place in C-USA. They will travel for their final two games of the regular season as they will face Middle Tennessee on Thursday and Western Kentucky on Saturday.
