UTEP Dominates UTSA in the 2nd Half in 79-52 Win

The UTEP Miners Women’s Basketball team won their second Conference USA game in a row as they beat the UTSA Roadrunners 79-52 Saturday afternoon at the Don Haskins Center.

The first half was a tale of two different quarters as the Miners outscored the Roadrunners 24-12 but in the second, UTSA outscored UTEP 15-6, giving the Miners a 30-27 lead at the half.

The second half was a totally different story as the Miners dominated it by out scoring UTSA 29-7 in the third and 20-18 in the fourth quarter.

The Miners got the 79-52 win in thanks to having five players in double figures for the second consecutive game. Erin Wilson lead the Miners with 22 points. Sabine Lipe scored 13, Eline Arike had 12, Avery Crouse scored 11 and Jazion Jackson added 10 points. UTEP also tied a team record for most three pointers made in game with 14.

With the win the Miners improve to 16-7 overall and 9-5 in C-USA play. For their next game they will travel to take on UAB on Thursday. Tipoff will be at 5pm.
