Western Kentucky Comes Back to Beat UTEP 77-75

Western Kentucky came back from being down 19 points in the fourth quarter to beat the UTEP Miners Women’s Basketball team 77-75 Saturday afternoon at the Don Haskins Center.

After beating the #1 team in Conference USA (Middle Tennessee)on Thursday, UTEP would try to beat the #2 team in Western Kentucky and at the end of the third quarter the Miners had dominated the game. They already had four players in double figures. Jazion Jackson and Erin Wilson had 13 points, Sabine Lipe had 12, Elina Arike had 14 and the Miners would lead 69-50 at the end of it.

But in the fourth quarter the Miners went ice cold. They would not score any points off field goals. They would only score 6 points and they all came from the free throw line.

Western Kentucky on the other hand got red hot. They outscored the Miners 27-6. Mya Meredith scored the game wining three with 15.8 seconds that cemented the victory for the Lady Toppers. They had three players in double figures as Hope Sivori had 16, Alexis Mead had 13 and Meredith would end up with 15 points.

With the win Western Kentucky is now 13-9 and 10-3 in C-USA play. For the Miners they are now 15-6 overall and 7-5 in C-USA. For their next game they will travel to play Charlotte on Wednesday night.
