UTEP Dominates FIU 81-61

The UTEP Miners Men’s Basketball team won their second Conference USA Game in a row as they dominated the FIU Panthers 81-61 Thursday night at the Don Haskins Center.

The Miners shot fifty-five percent in the first half and out rebounded the Panthers in the first half to give them a 40-28 lead at the half.

In the second half UTEP continued to dominate as they built up their lead to 25 points. It was in the middle of the second half that FIU went on an 11 point run but the Miners regrouped and by the 5 minute mark left in the game, they had a 20 point lead.

The Miners would dominate FIU in every aspect of the game giving them the 81-61 win. UTEP had four players in double figures as Shamar Givance and Otis Frazier scored 15 points. Calvin Solomon and Jamari Sisley each scored 10 points for the Miners.

With the win UTEP is now 11-8 and 4-4 in C-USA play. The will host nationally ranked FAU Saturday night at the Haskins Center. Tip Off is at 7pm.
