With the Austin Panthers coming off a tough loss last week against the Riverside Rangers, they wanted to ensure they secured at least second place in District 1-4A Division 1. One step closer to do so is by defeating the Bowie Bears Friday night at Baty-Simmang Stadium.
The Panthers began taking control of the game in the middle of the opening quarter, when Jayden Wilson bulldozed his way through many Bear defenders for a 61-yard dash to the endzone to put the Panthers up, 6-0.

With a little over 3 minutes left in the 1st Quarter, Wilson, once again, found paydirt with a 10-yard hard-fought Touchdown run, along with the 2-point conversion to put Austin up, 14-0.
Bowie could not get anything going and had many fumbles and interceptions throughout the game. The Panthers capitalized on a Bear turnover with less than 1 minute into the 2nd Quarter, with a 70-yard Jayden Wilson Touchdown run to put Austin up, 21-0. The Panthers made sure they suffocated the Bowie offense and solidified a victory early in the game, as they had one more score before halftime with an Irving Cortinas to Jayden Wilson Flee Flicker who passed the ball to Sebastian Morales for the spectacular 53-yard Touchdown pass to send the Panthers with a resounding 28-0 halftime lead.
With 3:35 left in the 3rd Quarter, Austin’s Jacob Marrufo got a rushing touchdown of his own, as he had a 7-yard run into the endzone.
Bowie was able to get their sole score of the game with a 13-yard pass from Antonio Ontiveros to Joe Rodriguez with 7:35 remaining in the game. The Panthers defeated the Bears, 35-7.
The Bears (4-5, 2-1), will travel to Riverside to take on the Rangers next Friday. The Panthers (4-5, 2-1), will have their regular season finale for senior night next Friday, when they host the Irvin Rockets.
