Canutillo Thrashes Chapin 26–0, Pitching It’s 3rd Shutout of the Season

The Canutillo Eagles now sit at the top of its district with only 2 games left on the season after blanking the Chapin Huskies 26-0 on Friday night.

Canutillo linebacker Jesus Carrillo caused all sorts of problems for Chapins offense, as the Huskies were unable to move the ball despite decent field position opportunities.

The Eagles offense was no slouch as coach Scott Brooks’s playbook displayed multiple running backs charging out of the backfield. Both Rene Huerta and Anthony Ayala shared the bulk of the load after LJ Martin sat in the second half.

“Rene and Anthony have done a great job, Brooks said. “Anthony has great speed and so does Rene, you saw it on that long run; you know the line did a superb job, I don’t know what we rushed for but I thought we did a great job of controlling the football.”

Next week Canutillo travel to Jefferson to take on the Silver Foxes. Whereas, Chapin remain on the road with a showdown at El Paso High against the Tigers.
