Franklin Thumps #1 Eastlake 26 –12, creating a Log Jam at the Top of District 1 – 6A.

The Cougars defense didn’t allow a touchdown in Friday’s showdown, as the Falcons only points came through an opening kickoff return, a safety, and a field goal.

Franklin’s junior quarterback Shay Smith lead the Cougars offensive attack with long runs and 3 passing touchdowns to receivers Beau Sparks (2) and Elias Rangel (1).

“Shay’s a big-time player, I mean there’s nothing else to say,” Sparks said. “He gets it done in
big moments.”

Smith alluded the Cougars successful night to the team’s good week of practice and preparation, as well complementing his o-line. “My offensive line did amazing, they deserve a gift,” Smith said. “Giving me those lanes making
big plays, they picked it up and had a big improvement.”

Next week Franklin travel to the SAC on Thursday night, to take on Pebble Hills. Whereas Eastlake have a bye week, however, will play Pebble Hills the week after.

The battle for district 1-6 currently has 4 teams with 1 loss and in position of the top spot (Eastlake, Pebble Hills, Franklin, and Eastwood).
