The Eastwood Troopers routed the Coronado Thunderbirds 49 – 14, overcoming a two-touchdown deficit early in the first half on Friday Night.
Despite a few turnovers and field position not in favor of the Troopers, head coach Julio Lopez relied on his team’s resilience and championship mentality to secure the win.

“When we started really bad and things felt like a snowball turning into an avalanche, we’ve always told our kids you have to find a way to stop the bleeding,” Lopez said. “And then you have to find a way to reverse momentum. I think we did a great job, Darion Diaz came in when we needed a spark and did a great job at quarterback.”
With Eastwood’s victory over Coronado, the aspirations for the district title in 1-6A remain intact for Lopez’s squad.
Next week the Troopers will host Americas who just upset #1 Pebble
Hills in a slugfest.
