Americas Upsets #1 Pebble Hills 23-21

The Americas Trailblazers played a well executed game as they upset the Pebble Hills Spartans 23-21 on Friday Night at the Socorro Athletic Complex.

This had all the makings of a great game. The record of Americas didn’t reflect the team the Trailblazers were capable of. Pebble Hills was sitting in first place entering the game.

The first quarter had all fireworks, the second play of the game was a 80 yard bomb from Gael Ochoa to Jailie Bost to start the scoring off, Bost would have two touchdowns in the first quarter and 153 receiving yards.

Americas would have an answer every time for the Spartans. The Mark Moore lead offense was a steady balance in the first half, and going into halftime with a 3 point lead. Americas won the time of possession, Pebble Hills only ran 8 plays the entire second quarter.

Mark Moore would lead the way with rushing touches and worn down Pebble Hills late in the game. Pebble Hills had no answer on stopping Moore down the stretch. Americas drove down the field to run the clock out and the Spartans could not stop them.

The second upset of the week and now the top 2 teams in district 1-6A have fallen. The race to the title now will be tighter.
