Eastlake Beats Americas 24-22 with a Last Second Field Goal

Julian Melucci kicked a 42 yd field goal with 17 seconds left in the game to give the Eastlake Falcons a 24-22 victory over the Americas Trailblazers Thursday Night at the Socorro Athletic Complex.

In a game that was close for most of the contest, the game came down to the last drive in which Eastlake QB Luke Lomeli was able to drive his team from deep in their own territory into the Trailblazers side of the field and give Melucci the opportunity for the game winning field goal.

Both teams played good as Mark Moore had a tremendous game for Americas as he ran for a couple of touchdowns and passed for another to Anthony Miranda. For Eastlake, QB Luke Lomeli threw for a touchdown and the running game was able to score two touchdowns.

Special teams were also a factor in this game as Americas was able to get a safety on an Eastlake punt attempt and of course Melucci is a great weapon to have for the Falcons.

With the win, Eastlake is now 4-1 and 3-0 in district play. Next week they will take on Socorro. Americas is now 1-4 and 1-2 in district play. They will face Pebble Hills next.
