The Eastlake Falcons Fly by Coronado 35 – 21  Halting a Late Comeback by the T-birds

Eastlake Falcon’s head coach Ruben Rodriguez opened the playbook early in the ball game, finding paydirt on their first two opening drives in their 35-21 win over the Coronado Thunderbirds.

However, Coronado’s defense buckled down and stopped Eastlake inside the redzone, preventing a potential 21-pointdeficit in the first quarter.

The T-Birds regrouped and tallied 14 points of their own right before half making things all square.

The start of the second half, Eastlake drove the ball down the field and punched in six, for the Falcon’s drive was a display of its offensive line paving the running lanes.

Coronado’s attempt for a late comeback was stopped short, as Eastlake forced a few three and outs and an interception by junior cornerback Evan Estrada which sealed the Falcon’s win.

Next week Eastlake take on its district rival Americas at the SAC, whereas Coronado prepare for an undefeated Pebble Hills squad.
