Franklin Wins Westside Bowl in Dominating Fashion over Coronado

The Franklin Cougars defeated the Coronado Thunderbirds 57 – 23 and took home the Westside Bowl trophy after a dominating performance inside the Sun Bowl.

The Cougars found paydirt on its opening drive which shiftedthe momentum early in the game.

Franklin’s junior quarterback Shay Smith and junior running back Jordan Morales both found
success running the ball throughout the night. However, it was Franklin’s senior receiver /defensive back Beau Sparks who was the impact player which shifted the game in the cougar’s favor, after an interception and a few receiving touchdowns.


“He works both sides of the ball,” Coach Daren Walker said. “Beau’s our guy he drives the bus
for us, and he does it all.”


Next week Franklin travels to the SAC to take on Americas, while Coronado look to bounce back as they play host against Eastlake.
