EL PASO, Texas – Former Miner Jade Rochelle will be the new director of basketball operations for UTEP women’s basketball, head coach Kevin Baker announced on Thursday.
Rochelle, who played at UTEP from 2018-20 after starting her collegiate career at Blinn College, fills the role vacated when Lexi Murphy was promoted to an assistant coach position last month.

Prior to arriving in El Paso for her final two years as a player, Rochelle averaged a double-double with 10.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game at Blinn College. She then saw action in 59 games with the Miners over the course of her junior and senior seasons.
With UTEP, Rochelle ranked second on the team with 55 offensive rebounds during her junior campaign. Her senior season was highlighted by a career-high 15 points and six steals in a win over Weber State.
“Jade is a former player that we are so happy to bring back to El Paso,” Baker said. “It is always good to hire someone that is already part of our UTEP family. Jade will do a great job in her new role as director of basketball operations. In addition, she looks to be headed in the right direction to start her coaching career. She was a great player with a strong work ethic and she will bring that to her new position. Jade has such a bright future ahead.”
Rochelle recently graduated from Howard Payne University with a master’s of business administration degree.
