After off a loss to Pittsburgh, the El Paso Locomotive FC got back to their winning ways as they beat Sacramento Republic FC 1-0 Wednesday night at Southwest University Park.
Both teams played great defense in the first half as the shots on goal were limited which made the match scoreless at halftime.
El Paso Coach John Hutchison made some substitutions in the second half to make the Locos play more aggressive and get more shots on goal.
It paid off because in the 75 minute Andrew Fox who was substituted in, scored a goal to give the Locos a 1-0 lead over Sacramento.
That’s all the scoring that El Paso needed as the defense continued to play great and Andrew Fox got another clean sheet in the Locomotive’s win. His clean sheet is now his 53rd in his career and is the record for the USL Championship.
With the win the Locos have won five straight matches at Southwest University Park. They get the three points and are now 5-6-1 with 16 points. They will travel to California as they play Orange County SC on Saturday night. Kickoff is at 8 pm.
