Mike Clevinger Pitches 3.2 innings as Aces Top Chihuahuas 8-2

The Reno Aces beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 8-2 in the first day game of the season Wednesday afternoon at Southwest University Park.

The big story going into the game was San Diego Padres pitcher Mike Clevinger was going to make a MLB rehab start for the Chihuahuas. Clevinger went 3.2 innings and allowed one run on four hits. He struck out five and walked one.

For the Aces, Jake McCarthy went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs in the Aces’ 8-2 win. The Chihuahuas hit a home run for the eighth straight game in a row.

With the loss the Chihuahuas are now 10-10 for the season and the Aces are 11-9. The two teams will play again on Thursday night at Southwest University Park, first pitch is a 6:35.
