UTEP Softball Drops Doubleheader Against Arizona 

TUCSON, Ariz. – The UTEP softball team (12-28, 2-13 Conference USA) dropped its doubleheader against Arizona Tuesday afternoon at Hillenbrand Stadium. The Miners fell 10-2 in six innings in game two, and 9-0 in five innings in game one. 

GAME 2 | ARIZONA 10, UTEP 2
Arizona took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning after two home runs.  

The Miners posted their first run of the game in the top of the third on a Pate Cathey single to right field, scoring Ashlynn Allen, but the Wildcats answered with another long-ball in the bottom half to extend the lead, 4-1. 

UTEP closed the deficit, 4-2, in the fourth after Allen recorded a sacrifice fly out to center field to plate Aaliyah Rebolledo. 

Arizona posted three more home runs for six runs in the last three innings to end the game in a 10-2 run-rule.

GAME 1 | ARIZONA 9, UTEP 0
The Wildcats took a 4-0 lead after three RBI-singles and a run-scoring walk in the second frame. Arizona recorded four more runs in the third to extend the advantage, 8-0, then knocked out a sacrifice fly in the fourth to lock in the win, 9-0. The Miners had one hit overall.

UTEP will be back in action as it hosts Middle Tennessee (18-25, 5-10 C-USA) in a three-game series at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex that runs April 22-24.
