PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – UTEP remained in seventh after second round action at the 2022 Conference USA Championship held at The Champion Course at the PGA National Resort on Tuesday.
The Miners shot a 317 as a team in round two after compiling a 314 over the first day of play yesterday. UTEP sits six strokes back of Southern Miss for fifth with 18 holes remaining.
After having to withdraw due to injury yesterday, Sophie Delfosse returned on Tuesday and put together the best individual score of all UTEP participants with a 3-over par 75.
On the individual leaderboard, Marta Romeu Chen ended the day tied for 23rd with a 159 (78, 81). Tijana Jovicevic Kovacic is tied for 29th with a 161 (83, 78), Andrea Ostos is tied for 34th with a 162 (73, 89) and Naomi Ramirez is tied for 39th with a 163 (80, 83).
Playing on a challenging course, no team has shot a sub-300 round and just one individual is below par.
Letizia Bagnoli of Florida Atlantic leads the field with a 1-under par score for the tournament. She is five strokes ahead of the nearest competitor.
UTSA moved up two spots as a team and is now in first with a 613 (308, 305) to reside two strokes ahead of North Texas at 615 (312, 303).
The Miners will pair with Charlotte and Middle Tennessee for the final 18 holes, with Delfosse teeing off first at 6:40 a.m. MT/8:40 a.m. ET.
