Chihuahuas Win Home Opener over OKC 13-11

In the 2022 season home opener, the crowd at Southwest University Park that had to endure one of the windiest night of the year were treated to a great offensive display by both the El Paso Chihuahuas and the Oklahoma City Dodgers.

In the end, the Chihuahuas were able to withstand the big comeback that OKC made and won the game 13-11.

El Paso scored seven runs with two outs in the bottom of the third inning to go ahead 9-1. Oklahoma City scored the game’s next eight runs and tied the score 9-9 in the eighth inning.

The Chihuahuas would then score four runs in the bottom of the eighth on Nomar Mazara’s RBI single and Brent Rooker’s three-run home run to seal the victory.

In all the Chihuahuas had 16 hits in the game.

With the win, El Paso is now 4-3 and Oklahoma City is 5-2. The two teams will face off again on Wednesday night at Southwest University Park at 6:35 p.m.
