UTEP Softball Falls to LA Tech in Series Opener Friday Evening  

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP softball team (10-18, 1-6 Conference USA) fell to Louisiana Tech (19-12, 4-3 C-USA) 9-3 in its series opener Friday evening at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex. 

The Lady Techsters jumped out to a 7-1 lead after three innings. 

LA Tech’s lead was highlighted  by Madie Green who hit a pair of home runs. UTEP got on the board in the bottom of the third when Lexi Morales belted a solo home run to center field. 

A two-run double by Ajia Richard cut the deficit to 7-3 in the bottom of the fifth plating Autumn Scott who drew a walk early in the inning, and Morales after she singled up the middle. 

LA Tech extended the lead 9-3 in the top of the sixth as Carol Easom knocked out the team’s third home run of the night, scoring Sierra Sacco. 

LA Tech pitcher Audrey Pickett held the Miners to no runs for the remainder of the game.
