Joe Golding Named Finalist For 2021-22 Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award

BOSTON, Ma. – UTEP men’s basketball head coach Joe Golding has been named as one of 20 finalists for the 2021-22 Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award, it was announced by the organization Tuesday.

The Skip Prosser Man of the Year award honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity off the floor as well.

Golding has done both in his first year with the Miners. He has led UTEP to its first 20+ win season since 2014-15. The Miners are back in postseason play for the initial occasion since 2015, and won their first postseason contest since 2009 with an 80-54 drubbing of Western Illinois in the opening round of the 2022 Basketball Classic on March 19.

The effort has allowed him to become just the fourth coach in program history to experience a winning season in year one on the sidelines, joining Don Haskins (18-6, 1961-62), Doc Sadler (27-8, 2004-05) and Tim Floyd (25-10, 2010-11).
