UTEP Softball Falls Twice to Conclude Littlewood Classic 

TEMPE, Ariz. – The UTEP softball team (5-6) dropped both games in five innings to conclude the Littlewood Classic Sunday evening. The Miners fell to California (7-3), 13-1, and to host ASU (7-3), 10-0. 

GAME 1 | CAL 13, UTEP 1 

Cal took a quick 10-0 lead after two innings. The Miners posted its lone run of the game in the bottom of the third on an Ajia Richard ground out to second, scoring Lexi Morales. Cal posted two more home runs for three runs in the last two innings to end the game in a 13-1 run-rule.

GAME 2 | ASU 10, UTEP 0 

ASU was first on the board after two scoreless innings. The Sun Devils took a 4-0 lead after two sac-flies and a two-run home run. ASU recorded two solo home runs in the fourth to extend the advantage, 6-0. The game ended in five innings as ASU knocked out an RBI single and a three-run home run to lock in the win, 10-0. The Miners had three hits overall and never reached past second base.

UTEP will be back in action as it travels to Albuquerque, N.M. for the Lobo Classic (Feb. 24-26) hosted by UNM.
