FAU Edges Out UTEP 54-52

The Florida Atlantic Owls ended a 8 game losing streak by edging out the UTEP Miners Women’s Basketball team 54-52 Thursday night in Boca Raton Florida.

The Miners and Owls went back and forth throughout the game. FAU lead after the first quarter and the Miners had a 2 point lead at halftime. After the third quarter UTEP had a 5 point lead but in the fourth, FAU was able mount a comeback and take the lead with about five minutes left in the game.

The Miners would tie the game with a minute left to go in the game but then The Owls would score a bucket and the Miners would miss their game winning attempt.

UTEP was lead by Katia Gallegos as she had 13 points in the game. Destiny Thurman had 10 points and 6 rebounds before she fouled out of the game.

The Miners struggled from the field as they only shot 37%. They look to rebound and get back on the winning track as they will travel to Miami to take on Florida International on Saturday morning. Tip off is at 10 am and you cam listen to the game on the free UTEP Miners App.
