Last year the Bobcats knocked out Eastlake in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. This year, the Falcons would return the favor.
A game that went back and fourth the entire 48 minutes came down to the wire. It would take everything Eastlake had to pull off the victory.
There wasn’t much scoring, both teams would chew on clock and take long drives. San Angelo Central had drives that would eat up more than 7 minutes one in each half. Both teams would find the end zone just once in the first half.
The second half was another slow start, the Bobcats would have a 8 minute drive that resulted in a field goal. Eastlake would go three and out immediately but would get a stop. Their next drive would leak into the fourth quarter when they would punch it in 2 seconds later.
Eastlake would hold the lead 14-10. Here came another long drive from San Angelo Central, 7 mins down the field for another touchdown to go up 17-14. It looked like Eastlake had one last chance with 3:50 to go in the 4th. Elijah Uribe and company would get down the field in a hurry and score with 2:00 left in the game making the score 21-17
It would be up to the Falcon defense to get one last stop. San Angelo would drive down near the redzone in a hurry with no timeouts left. 40 seconds left and Eastlake would get an interception to seal the deal.
The Falcons get their first 6A Bi-District Gold Ball in school history. The next game will be Eastlake (10-1) vs Trophy Club Nelson (8-3), 6 p.m. Friday at Wolfforth’s Peoples Bank Stadium
