29th Annual Greater El Paso Football Showcase All Star Game has a new home at the Socorro Student Activities Complex.

Senior football players from the 34 El Paso County high schools take part in an exciting football combine and football game highlighted with a spectacular pre-game and dazzling halftime festivities which include outstanding football players, cheerleaders, band members, dance/drill teams, ROTC cadets, Journalism, and choir members.

The Greater El Paso Football Showcase is supported by a dedicated all volunteer committee, coaching staff, and generous sponsors.

All proceeds from the game go directly back to the seniors in the form of scholarships. El Paso graduating seniors have been awarded 696 scholarships totaling$589,000.00.

SHOWCASE EVENTS:

ALL STAR DRAFT: Team selection is NFL type draft. Ninety-two football players from across El Paso County are selected by the All-Star selection committee to participate in the game. Blue Thunder & Red Storm coaches draft players in front of 500 parents, players, and El Paso community to determine which team all stars will represent and play.

Draft will be on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Location TBD.

JUNIOR ALL STAR MENTOR DAY: The All-Star football players will participate in a Junior All Star Mentor Day on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Students in 5th and 8th grade from across the county will be paired with a player. The Junior All Star will have a photo taken with their “all-star” then participate in team building workshop, have lunch, team building activities, and enjoy the rest of the evening at Dave & Busters. The event will begin at 9:00 am. Location TBD.

MEDIA DAY: All Star players will be available for interviews or photos on Saturday, December 11, 2021 @ El Paso High School.   Players from both teams will be available for interviews: Red Storm at 12:30 pm, Blue Thunder at 1:00 pm. 

Quarterback Challenge: QB’s from all over the El Paso County compete in various QB throwing and mobility tests.

Winners are determined in four categories with an overall winner. Location will be at El Paso High School on December 11, 2021.

ABOUT THE COMBINE:

  • Greater El Paso Football Showcase Combine has been in existence since Dec. 2011.
  • Limited to high school seniors, all participants must have a recorded SAT or ACT score prior to the combine and meet one of the three criteria: Minimum SAT of 800 or ACT of 16, GPA of 2.2 or higher, or in the top one half of their graduating class.
  • Seniors will be measured in the 40-yard dash, vertical leap measurement,30-yard shuttle, and position drills.
  • This year, over 40 college coaches are expected to attend representing over 35 colleges. These colleges attend with intent to offer scholarships immediately to the El Paso athletes. Scholarships may be athletic, academic, or financial need.
  • Since 2011, over 150 El Paso football players have attended college and received a total of over approximately $16.5 million worth of scholarships.
  • 2020 results: 22 El Paso athletes received scholarships totaling 1.4 million dollars.
  • Spectators are invited to attend.

ABOUT THE GAME:

 PRE GAME FESTIVITIES: Senior JROTC Cadets present an 18’ by 50’ American flag. Seniors from El Paso County will comprise the All Star Senior Choir and will accompany a high school choir to sing the National Anthem. Player introductions will begin at approximately 12:50 p.m.

 WEST HEAD COACH: Scott Brooks – Currently Head Football Coach of Canutillo HS.

EAST HEAD COACH: Coach Mark Torres – Currently  Head Football Coach of Pebble Hills HS

ABOUT THE TEAMS:

ALL STAR TEAM: Team selection is NFL type draft. Ninety-two football players from across El Paso County have been selected by the All-Star selection committee to participate in the game. Each team holds practices for two weeks prior to the game, receives a commemorative All Star jersey and t-shirt.

TEAM NAMES: Blue Thunder and Red Storm

MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS: MVP trophies awarded to an outstanding offensive and defensive player selected from the Blue Thunder AND Red Storm immediately following the game. One player from each team will be awarded the “Hut Brown Leadership Award” and “Ed Fifer Courage Award.” Fans will be invited on to the field for autographs following the MVP announcement.

HALF-TIME FESTIVITIES:

Band:

All El Paso County seniors will perform alongside several area marching bands during a halftime led by a guest conductor. Full marching bands participating are Coronado HS, Hanks HS, Pebble Hills HS, Mountain View HS, and Canutillo HS.

Choir:

Choir will be senior choir members alongside Coronado Choir.

ROTC:

ROTC cadets will include pre-game and half time from cadets all over the El Paso County.

Dance:

The show will include a choreographed dance performance coordinated by Laura’s Production

PRE GAME: $6 per person available after Dec. 1.  Children 6 and under free.
