It was Homecoming for Riverside on Tom Work Field at Riverfront Stadium as the Rangers hosted the Bucks from Alpine, and they made sure that home field advantage wasn’t going to change as they made it a long 3 hour drive back for Alpine, beating them, 70-6.
Angel “Speedy” Muñoz had 3 runs for touchdowns (2 yards, 2 yards, and 59 yards), and had 3 touchdown passes to Francisco Luna (for 5 yards, 30 yards, and 39 yards). Alpine was just out manned from the start as Riverside led 21-0 after the first quarter, and then 42-0 at halftime.
Riverside honored their outstanding ex from 2020, news anchor Saul Saenz on ABC-7 since they did not get to last year due to COVID. Also, 2021’s ex was Dr. Marcos Ortega from Texas Tech HSC, and what better way for Francisco Luna to celebrate being Homecoming King than catching 3 passes touchdowns, of course, congratulations to Vanessa Jimenez as the 2021 Homecoming Queen.
Jose Guardado made sure that he got into the end zone on a 34 yard run, Noah Ramirez scampered for a 32 yard TD run, and Victor Morales on a 5 yard run early in the 4th, however, it must be mentioned that Ranger kicker, Jonathan Reyes displayed his accuracy again as he was 10 for 10 on extra points. He was 9 for 9 against El Paso High earlier this year.
Riverside moves to 5-1 and will be at San Elizario next week, and Alpine falls to 1-5 and travels to Tornillo.
