Dominate 2nd Half Gives Chapin a 43-13 Win over Austin

Thursday night’s matchup between the Austin Panthers and Chapin Huskies was set to be a high-scoring game with some powerful offenses.

That is exactly how the game started. With 7:17 left in the opening quarter, Chapin’s Timothy Pastran started the scoring off with a 41-yard TD reception from Mason Standerfer to put the Huskies up, 7-0.

With only 23 seconds left in the 1st Quarter, Austin’s Jayden Wilson tied the ball game up, 7-7, with a rushing TD of 18 yards. With the Panthers trying to put the momentum on their side, they were able to strike, once again, with an 11-yard TD pass from Jayden Wilson to Sebastian Morales to give Austin their first and only lead of the game, 13-7.

The Huskies answered back with 1:56 left before halftime, as Timothy Pastran bolted past all Austin defenders for a 48-yard TD run to send Chapin into halftime with a 14-13 lead.

Standerfer was able to connect with Pastran, once again, to extend Chapin’s lead, 22-13 with 8:26 left in the 3rd Quarter.

The Huskies had an answer for anything Coach Pichardo and the Panther offense attempted. With 49 seconds left in the 3rd Quarter, Chapin’s Anthony Rivera had a huge touchdown to put the Huskies into cruise control with a 29-13 lead.

The stingy Husky defense continued to hold the Panthers in the 4th Quarter as Rivera intercepted the Panthers and ran it back for a Pick 6 to make it 36-13, Chapin.

The final score of the game came when Standerfer found Brent Hallman Jr for a 25-yard TD pass to bolster the Huskies to a 43-13 victory.

The Huskies (3-2) will travel to Clint to take on the Lions next Friday. The Panthers (2-2) will look to shake off their 2-game losing streak as they begin district play by traveling to Andress.
