El Dorado’s homecoming started shaking but ended with a victory over the Clint Lions 30-27 Friday evening at the Socorro Athletic Complex.
On the first play from scrimmage the Aztecs were picked off by Clint. The Lions would strike first 4 plays later by Isaiah González on a quarterback keeper 20 yards out.
El Dorado wouldn’t wait too long to answer back. Isaiah Rudison would have a 45 rushing touchdown, his shortest touchdown on the night. Rudison would have 7 touches for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half, his next two touchdowns would be for 46 and 66 yards.
Isaiah González and Manuel Holguin for Clint would keep them in the game combing for over 125 yards in the ground and 3 touchdowns. Clint would only be down by one point heading into half time.
In the 3rd Quarter, Rudison for the Aztecs would get a 77 yard rushing touchdown on his first touch of the half. El Dorado would seem to pull away 30-19.
Clint wouldn’t see the end zone the entire quarter, and have one fumble.
In the 4th quarter Clint would make the crowd nervous. Isaiah González would find the end zone for his third rushing touchdown, the quarterback would have 90 yards on the ground. The two point conversion would be a completed pass.
Both teams rarely threw the ball all night. Just 10 attempts combined, Clint had thrown 10 times in the past 3 games. We would only see 4 of those passes completed one for El Dorado and three for Clint.
The Lions would get a big stop with under 2 minutes in the fourth and give themselves one last chance to win the game down by 3. Clint would get a big completion to Carlos Arreola to get across the 50.
With ten seconds left on the clock, Clint would face a 4th down and attempt 49 yard field goal and barley miss it and the Aztecs would get its first win of the season on homecoming night 30-27
Isaiah Rudison had 19 carries for 285 yards and 4 touchdowns for El Dorado.
