The El Paso Locomotive FC stayed undefeated at Southwest University Park this season by beating the Sacramento Republic FC 2-0.
The Locos got off to a fast start as Forward Aaron Gomez scored a goal seven minutes into the game. With the fast start the Locomotive were able to put pressure on Sacramento on defense as they dominated the first half.
In the second half El Paso kept dominating the match with superb defense and added a goal in the fifty seventh minute by Eder Borelli. It was Borelli’s firs goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Logan Kettering had another great match as he didn’t allow any goals by Sacramento.
After the match, Head Coach Mark Lowry talked about the win:
“Feels good to get back to winning ways and it feels good to play at home. It was a great crowd, a good performance from the guys with two goals – we could have had a couple more I think early on in the game. All-in-all, we have to be happy with winning and the performances. Sacramento is a good team with experienced, quality players and they are difficult to play against. It’s also good to get a clean sheet again. We are a team that prides ourselves on how we defend so it’s good to get back to keeping a clean sheet.”
With the win the Locomotive FC (13-2-6 45 points) get three point and now 20-games undefeated at Southwest University Park including playoffs. The win against Sacramento Republic also puts El Paso on a seven-game win streak at home.
The Locomotive FC will hit the road for their next match as they take on the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Kickoff from Colorado Springs is set for 7:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live digitally on ESPN+.
