The UTEP Miners beat the Bethume Cookman Wildcats 38-28 Saturday night at the Sun Bowl.
With the win the Miners start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2005. Miner running backs Ronald Awatt and Willie Eldridge combined for 244 yards rushing. Quarterback Gavin Hardison threw a career high three touchdowns in the victory.
The game had some special guests in attendance as former Miners Aaron Jones (Green Bay Packers), Alvin Jones and Dallas Cowboys broadcaster Babe Laufenberg were there.
