UTEP Tennis Fall Schedule Announced

EL PASO, Texas – For the first time in two years, the UTEP tennis team will play a fall schedule, as announced by head coach Ivan Fernandez on Thursday. The Miners will compete in four tournaments during the fall to prepare for the spring dual-match season.

“We are very excited to announce our fall tournament schedule,” Fernandez said. “We have not had a fall schedule since 2019, and we are really looking forward to getting back out on the court. The fall tournaments are very important not only to get the team some great match experience but also to show me where they could possible play in the lineup for the spring.”

The Miners will open things up by competing at the NM State Aggie Invite (Sept. 17-19). UTEP has been a staple in the tournament field over the past several years. The Miners begin the month of October by competing at the SDSU Fall Invitational (Oct. 1-3). The prestigious ITA Mountain Region Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., will be held Oct. 13-17. UTEP closes out its fall season at the North Texas Mean Green Invitational (Nov. 5-7).

UTEP returns seven players from last year, while adding freshman Laura Schmitz from Germany to its roster.
