The El Paso Locomotive FC continued their undefeated streak at Southwest University Park as they beat Austin Bold FC 3-0 on Saturday Night.
Both teams played good defense in the first half as the match was scoreless at Halftime. But in the second half the Locos came alive and scored three goals.
The first goal came at the 60’ mark as Andrew Fox scored his first goal of the season. Twelve minutes later Dylan Mares scored a goal that gave the Locomotive a 2-0 lead.
Leandro Carrijo gave the fans in attendance a going home present as he scored the final goal of the game 1 minute left to go in extended play.
With the win the Locos are in first place in the USL Championship, they get three points and have an overall record of (11-1-4, 37 points)
Here’s what head coach Mark Lowry had to say after the match:
We took these two weeks and compartmentalized it, five games in 14 days is kind of a mini-season. Let’s win all of these games, focus on and manage this squad for these five games. Up to today, it was three wins and a tie so it’s been good. Don’t lose tonight and ruin the work we’ve done over the last 10 days. Let’s finish the job. That was the message in the locker room. Get a win, get a good performance, entertain the fans, finish the job so we can feel good about our work over these last two weeks.”
Up next for the Locomotive is New Mexico United on Saturday, August 14. The match will be played in Albuquerque, New Mexico at Isotopes Park where kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live digitally on ESPN+.
