Locomotive FC Remains Undefeated at Home

The El Paso Locomotive continued their winning ways as they beat the Las Vegas Lights FC 1-0 on Saturday night at Southwest University Park.

The Locos got the win thanks to forward Aaron Gomez scoring a goal in the 58th minute of the match. With the goal, Gomez now has three goals in the season and fourteen in three seasons with the Locomotive FC.

Here’s what head coach Mark Lowry had to say post match:

“In many ways [tonight was] very good, and in many ways, not so good, It’s been a challenging week for everybody. A couple of injuries picked up, a few guys were unavailable, so we saw some changes in the lineup. All in all, an okay performance. Not a complete one, not a great one, but after the week we had, the three points in a really important moment of the season going into a tough stretch of 5 games in 16 or 17 days, that three points tonight set us up well for that.”

With the win El Paso (7-1-3, 24 points) picks up a critical three points at home that guarantees the team a year undefeated at Southwest University Park while holding on tied to Rio Grande Valley FC on points for the top seed of Mountain Division.

For their next match, the Locos will take on New Mexico United in Albuquerque on Saturday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m. MT. The match will be broadcast live digitally on ESPN+.
