The Round Rock Chupacabras scored a run in seven out of the nine innings to outlast the El Paso Margaritas 16-7 Thursday night at Southwest University Park.
The Margaritas had a 6-4 lead going into the sixth inning but that’s when the Chupacabras caught fire and scored a combined twelve runs between the sixth and ninth inning.
El Paso starter Ryan Weathers allowed four runs in five innings in his second Triple-A game. Margaritas left fielder Patrick Kivlehan went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a home run, his team-leading 12th homer of the season. Kivlehan has reached base in 10 of his last 11 plate appearances, with six extra-base hits in that span.
Luis Campusano, Pedro Florimón and Matt Batten had two hits each and Brian O’Grady had a homer run as well for the Margaritas.
Round Rock scored in seven different innings Thursday.
The Margaritas will be back as the Chihuahuas tomorrow night as they host Round Rock, first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
