Riverside’s Incredible Season Comes to an End

In game two of the best of three series in the 4A Regional Semifinals, the Riverside Rangers season came to an end when they lost to the Stephenville Yellow Jackets 6-0.

The Rangers were already down a game after they had lost game one on Friday night so they needed to get going fast on Saturday morning in Midland to force a game three but that didn’t happen.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a fast start as Case Dunavant got a RBI single off Rangers starting pitcher Jesus Sanchez making the score 1-0.

Then in the 2nd inning Sanchez gave up 3 more runs forcing Rangers coach Rick Solis to put in Aaron Aguliar to pitch for the rest of the game.

The Yellow Jackets added two more ones after that. One in the fifth and one in the seventh making the final score 6-0

But the real story of the game and the reason the Rangers were never able to get into this game was because of the superb pitching of the Yellow Jackets Reece Elston. He pitched a three hit complete game, had eight strikeouts and one walk.

He was so dominate that the Rangers didn’t get a ball out of the infield until the sixth inning.

With the loss, Riverside’s incredible season comes to an end. It had been nine years since any El Paso team had made it that far.

Congratulations to the Coach Solis and the Riverside Rangers for a job well done!
